It's getting chopped up so I got one of these -- and it works just as well. If you have to throw the snow somewhere rather than just push it, you need one of these. You can use your shoulders and arms instead of your back, and all it takes to get wet show off the blade is a twist of the wrist. And (something my old metal one didn't have) this shovel is adjustable -- you can move the lower grip up or down to adjust for your height and reach. If you've ever strained your back (or don't want to in the future), you need this shovel! I ordered 5 more and have given several away to relatives. The shovel's swivel handle is great for throwing the snow. No bending over is required. My only complaint which is why it did not receive 5 stars is the reason my last one broke. The blade on it is very thin and made of plastic. So you CAN NOT chop up icy snow chunks with it. I wish they would have made the blade stronger. Other than that it's a great shovel that you just have to be a little careful to avoid breaking the edges. I have a terribly bad back and can use this shovel to easily lift and toss snow in a number of different ways. Because of the adjustable lever handle, I can do almost all moves without bending! Toss to the side, toss in front. Dig deep and lift a heavy load up in front without pulling back muscles. One super feature is that you can twist the handle to toss without turning your body because the lever-handle part is attached to a free-moving adjustment screw that allows you to toss in any direction without turning your hips to face that direction. I bought three of these and painted my name on each because when other people see how easy it is, I'm afraid that passers-by will come back after dark and swipe one. It's a great shovel! ---JP |
